Askey-wilson Type Functions, with Bound States

چکیده

The two linearly independent solutions of the three-term recurrence relation of the associated Askey-Wilson polynomials, found by Ismail and Rahman in [19], are slightly modified so as to make it transparent that these functions satisfy a beautiful symmetry property. It essentially means that the geometric and the spectral parameters are interchangeable in these functions. We call the resulting functions the Askey-Wilson functions. Then, we show that by adding bound states (with arbitrary weights) at specific points outside of the continuous spectrum of some instances of the Askey-Wilson difference operator, we can generate functions that satisfy a doubly infinite three-term recursion relation and are also eigenfunctions of q-difference operators of arbitrary orders. Our result provides a discrete analogue of the solutions of the purely differential version of the bispectral problem that were discovered in the pioneering work [6] of Duistermaat and Grünbaum.

Expansions in the Askey–Wilson Polynomials

We give a general expansion formula of functions in the Askey–Wilson polynomials and using the Askey–Wilson orthogonality we evaluate several integrals. Moreover we give a general expansion formula of functions in polynomials of Askey–Wilson type, which are not necessarily orthogonal. Limiting cases give expansions in little and big q-Jacobi type polynomials. We also give a new generating funct...

A Paley-wiener Theorem for the Askey-wilson Function Transform

We define an analogue of the Paley-Wiener space in the context of the Askey-Wilson function transform, compute explicitly its reproducing kernel and prove that the growth of functions in this space of entire functions is of order two and type ln q−1, providing a Paley-Wiener Theorem for the Askey-Wilson transform. Up to a change of scale, this growth is related to the refined concepts of expone...

Fourier transforms on the quantum SU(1,1) group

The main goal is to interpret the Askey-Wilson function and the corresponding transform pair on the quantum SU(1, 1) group. A weight on the C *-algebra of continuous functions vanishing at infinity on the quantum SU(1, 1) group is studied, which is left and right invariant in a weak sense with respect to a product defined using Wall functions. The Haar weight restricted to certain subalgebras a...

Bootstrapping and Askey-wilson Polynomials

Abstract. The mixed moments for the Askey-Wilson polynomials are found using a bootstrapping method and connection coe cients. A similar bootstrapping idea on generating functions gives a new Askey-Wilson generating function. Modified generating functions of orthogonal polynomials are shown to generate polynomials satisfying recurrences of known degree greater than three. An important special c...

On a Family of Integrals that extend the Askey-Wilson Integral

We study a family of integrals parameterised by N = 2, 3, . . . generalising the Askey-Wilson integral N = 2 which has arisen in the theory of q-analogs of monodromy preserving deformations of linear differential systems and in theory of the Baxter Q operator for the XXZ open quantum spin chain. These integrals are particular examples of moments defined by weights generalising the Askey-Wilson ...
